The most important thing that we can do right now is listen. It’s really important that we show up to the community in an authentic and transparent way. This kind of openness and trust is a model for how I want to be with my team, and how I want to interact with the community of patients, caregivers, physicians, and advocacy groups. I'm really proud of Genentech and its commitment to diversity and inclusion. It’s infused in almost everything we do. It's about different backgrounds…diversity of thought and of approach.  We ask ourselves tough questions like, “How can we broaden our teams?” and “What implicit biases might we have?". We're learning. We're creating the path right now. Persistence is progress, and Genentech is a company that doesn't give up. That, to me, is incredibly powerful.
